ABOUT US
The Church
The Greater Toronto Baptist Church (GTBC) was established on September 11, 2005. It is led by Gamy Romano Jr., a man called by God to be the pastor of this church. GTBC exists to fulfill the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, as stated in Matthew 28:18-20:
"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
In the years following September 11, this date became associated with destruction and loss of life. However, for the members of GTBC, especially its pastor and those who will join this vibrant church, September 11 takes on a whole new significance. From now on, this day will be remembered as the founding day of GTBC, a spiritual haven where souls are saved and lives are restored through the preaching of the Word of God.
GTBC serves as a sanctuary where searching souls encounter a loving and providing Savior. It is a place of pure worship and fundamental preaching from the unaltered Word of God. Here, a strong sense of Christian fellowship thrives, and everyone is welcomed with love. This is a place where prayers are answered and where community is fostered—it is a space for laughter, tears, hard work, and rest. At GTBC, caring, sharing, and fellowship are at the heart of our mission. Many individuals have found salvation through this church, and we pray that the Lord of Harvest will guide us to reach even more souls. Our church slogan encapsulates our vision beautifully.

The Pastor & Wife
Every church that has ever existed began with a response to a call from God. A church does not simply grow overnight like a mushroom. It requires a person’s obedience to God's call and a willingness to dedicate their life to preaching and pastoring. The Bible teaches us that God calls individuals to be His servants on earth to proclaim the Kingdom of God.
The Greater Toronto Baptist Church (GTBC) was born out of the surrender of a man who initially had no intention of entering the ministry. He was an ordinary individual with simple plans and ambitions for his life. Having accepted Christ as his personal Savior, he was saved and baptized on the same day, March 13, 1977, while he was in his third year at Manila Science High School. Since that day, he has served the Lord faithfully in various capacities as a dedicated Christian worker on a volunteer basis through the Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church in Sta. Ana, Manila. He attended the Bible Baptist Seminary while pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of the Philippines. After completing his engineering course and passing the Civil Engineering board exam, he began a career as an engineer and project manager.
Having learned the values of obedience and faithfulness, he became involved in multiple Christian ministries, including teaching, evangelism, mission work, lay preaching, team organization, program and activity planning, church building, and church project management.
His family moved to Canada on April 1, 2003 (though God intended no joke in bringing them there). One evening in August 2005, he called his pastor in the Philippines to discuss a burden he felt for the lost souls in the City of Toronto. During that conversation, he received the authority to preach, baptize, and evangelize in this new part of the world. Together with his wife, Sonia, their three children—Carlo, Chris, and Grace—and two faithful Christian ladies, GTBC was established on September 11, 2005. Since then, the church has been growing, reaching families and individuals with the gospel, which is a true testament to God's power and grace.
His obedience to God's call was not without opposition. It was a day that made the devil furious. Just a week after that phone call, he experienced his first and only vehicular accident after driving accident-free for 30 years. This incident occurred on Highway 401, one of the busiest highways in Canada, where accidents are common. Although the van was totaled, he and his three children were not injured at all. This was a day when the Lord preserved their lives for the purpose of fulfilling God's commission.
Please continue to pray for and support Pastor Gamy Romano, the man whom God called to lead and serve GTBC. He now has heavenly plans and ambitions to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Our Mission
The mission of the Greater Toronto Baptist Church is to fulfill the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, as found in Matthew 28:19-20:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Amen."
Our Vision
The vision of the Greater Toronto Baptist Church is to embody the New Testament Church by proclaiming the riches of God's glory. Our goal is to present every person perfect in Christ Jesus and to experience the fullness of Christ, as stated in Colossians 1:27-28:
"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Whom we preach, warning every person, and teaching every person in all wisdom, that we may present every individual perfect in Christ Jesus."
Additionally, we strive for the unity of faith and knowledge in the Son of God, as reflected in Ephesians 4:13:
"Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."
